YMCA charity shop reopens in centre of Diss
A charity shop supporting the vital work of the YMCA has re-opened in the South Norfolk market town of Diss, some 14 months after the original store closed when its let ran out.
Customers at the new premises in Mere Street will be able to select from a range of goods including clothes, furniture, bric-a-brac and books.
The shop, which opened on December 15, is staffed by one full-time and one part-time employee and the money raised will pay for the charity’s vital work with homeless and vulnerable young people right across Norfolk.
Mike McCormack, YMCA England’s district manager, said the YMCA shop had always been popular when it was based in Diss before: “Obviously, we are well supported within the town and we had the opportunity to move back in, so we took it,” he said.
The charity shop is one of six such facilities selling second-hand goods to raise much-needed cash for Christian young people’s charity YMCA Norfolk. The others are located in Thetford, King’s Lynn. Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and Hunstanton.
The charity is seeking donations from the public. To donate, visit the Mere Street store.
