Norfolk's Tim to join international YMCA runners

TimLeeMarathon350YMCA Norfolk schools worker, Tim Lee, is set to join an international YMCA team running in the London Marathon on April 17.
Tim, who lives in Aylsham and works at the City Academy in Norwich alongside students providing support for teenagers who face tough challenges, aims to raise over £1700 for YMCA England and YMCA Norfolk.

“I have worked for the YMCA part time for 4 years in two local high schools.  I am constantly seeing what an incredible job the YMCA does in helping young people from all backgrounds, challenges and lifestyles and helping them get back on track and reaching their full potential,” said Tim.

“This is such a great opportunity for me to raise money for a charity, both YMCA England and YMCA Norfolk who are doing an amazing job, reaching out beyond themselves and always going the extra mile for others. Running 26.2 miles is such a big challenge, but so worth it as I know it’s for a great cause which I 100% believe in. I am so pumped and looking forward to the marathon in London and really want to raise as much money as possible".

“I started training a few months ago in November, starting with smaller runs and gradually building each week. Over the remaining couple of weeks I will be doing a 17 and 19-mile run with a number of smaller runs in between.

My wife Sarah and I had our little baby daughter Georgia, born on Christmas eve. With my focus being on family and Georgia being admitted to hospital a couple of times in the first few weeks due to breathing difficulties, it has meant my training was put on hold for a few weeks. We thank God that Georgia is now better and doing very well and I am now back on track with the training."

Tim will be part of the YMCA international team of over 20 runners from as far afield as the USA, Trinidad and Tobago, Italy, Egypt and China. Last year the team raised over £30,000 between them.

If you are able to sponsor Tim, even for just £1, he says that every pound really does make a difference. Visit: www.justgiving.com/TimLee2011
